Hello there,

I am currently trying to decide between two similar systems:

A) (700-1200 DKK)

- Pair of Eltax Pyramid floorstanders for 300 DKK (35 - 20 000 Hz), had it before, surprisingly good for the price

- With a Sony STR-GX900ES (high-end receiver from 1994?) for 400-600 DKK

- OR a NAD 3020 original for 800-1000 DKK (more than 30 years old)

- Plus the price of cables

OR

B) (1280 DKK)

- Pair of Eltax Concept 400 (35 - 20 000 Hz), cannot audition it before purchase (farther away)
- NAD 316BEE

Which options would you guys prefer? It would be for music mainly, all sorts of genres, and I am mostly interested in which one would give the sweetest sound. Thanks in advance!

I'm sorry to say, but the two systems you've put up as options are not what we would call "vintage".
We define vinytage as Hifi that were made before 1985. The only piece of gear that goes as vintage is the NAD 3020 -which is a kind of a late 70's, early 80's classic.

I doubt peoble here knows something, if anything about 90's eltax speakers.

But I'm pretty sure we can guide you to a nice vintage setup if that is what you seek.

You could go with the Nad 3020 and a pair of ScanDyna A-25 very nice speaker. Much better than Eltax's speaker IMHO.

Would be interesting to listen to them for sure, however, they are in Jylland and I'm in Copenhagen. Also, I'm very set on floorstanders: they just have a fuller sound that is hard to beat.
